Welcome to the Greek Folk Dancers of New South Wales. We are a Greek Folk Dance Group based in Sydney, Australia. CELEBRATING 20 YEARS 1992-2012 Our group is focused on promoting and preserving our Hellenic Cultural Heritage in Australia. We are closely linked to the Pan-Laconian Co-Federation, The Mytelinean Brotherhood of Sydney and NSW and the Pan-Macedonian Hellenic Lyceum Dancers of NSW. Our current project is working together with the Parish & Community of St Therapon to develop and maintain a parish dance group. Teaching Pontian Dancing at PontoXeniteas has also been our project since mid 2010. This year we also welcomed some new changes to the group. We now have 4 new Associate Dance teachers who will specialize in specific dance regions, etc. We also want through this site to maintain a database for Greek Dance Information, Greek Folk Music and Regional Costumes.So stay tuned for a new website to come in the coming months. We offer private lessons on request and adult dance classes. Please check our venues and availability. OPA! ******************************************************************************** A great boost to the group recently came in the way of an invitation to perform at the “A Night In Greece Charity Gala”, which was held at the, The America Club, Singapore on May 16th. To add to the flavour of exposure, the group was invited by Junior MasterChef to perform for the first episode of season two of the show. The show aired on prime time TV on Monday, October 3rd 2011. The group will also be performing at the "ROZA, The Queen of the Greek Blues" Dec 7th 2011. ******************************************************************************** |
